Tasty Food To Go - Thai & Lao is a straightforward, no-frills takeout spot tucked into East Long Beach, serving up authentic Thai and Laotian dishes that regularly draw a crowd looking for satisfying, home-style flavors. The focus here is clearly on bold, familiar favorites rather than fancy presentation, making it a practical choice for anyone wanting vibrant Southeast Asian comfort food that travels well.

The ordering experience suits busy locals or families grabbing dinner on the go, especially since portions are generous and prices remain reasonable. The menu highlights include noodle dishes like Pad See Ew and the unmistakably spicy Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles), alongside richly flavored curries like Panang and Red Curry with Bamboo. For those after something lighter or fresh, Green Papaya Salad and the Laotian classics Larb and Nam Tok are reliably well-executed. The subtle heat from handmade hot sauces makes a notable appearance for customizable spice.

Inside, the atmosphere is modest and practical, reflecting the mom-and-pop nature of the place rather than a dine-in restaurant vibe. It’s known locally as a dependable stop where the warmth from the owners and straightforward service create a welcoming, down-to-earth environment, even if it’s not a spot to linger over a long meal. This is the kind of place where regulars—from families to solo travelers—feel at ease, often returning for the familiar tastes that carry memories of home or trips to the region.

Visits tend to work best during weekday lunch or early dinner hours when takeout lines move quickly, and the kitchen turns out dishes with consistent freshness and care. The location on E 10th makes it a convenient pick-up after nearby stops or errands around Long Beach. Those who’ve lived or traveled extensively in Thailand or Laos find the flavors notably close to authentic, which adds a layer of reassurance for anyone seeking true regional taste without leaving Southern California.

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem about three years ago after a visit to the Long Beach Aquarium. We wanted to grab a bite before heading back to Orange County, and all I can say is, this place is nirvana. Since then, it has become our absolute favorite Thai restaurant, not just in Long Beach, but in all of LA and Orange County (and we've tried a lot). I’ve never gone out of my way to drive 30 minutes for takeout before, but this place is worth every mile. The food is consistently delicious, and the staff is always warm, welcoming, and kind. Today, something especially motivated me to finally write this review: The Thai Papaya Salad. I was just going to take a few bites of it before diving into my usual Pad See Ew (which I adore), while my husband got his go-to curry or Panang. But the salad was so bright, fresh, and flavorful that I couldn’t stop eating it, and that’s all I ended up having! That’s how good it was. This restaurant is truly a treasure. We used to have a favorite Thai spot in San Diego, but we’re so grateful we found something even better, and closer to home. If you’re in the area, or even if you’re not, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won’t regret it.

This is the best it gets next to Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos cuisine (having traveled to these countries my self) and the closest! Every time I visit SoCal, I make sure to go out if my way to get me some really good authentic pad Thai and beef salad (as shown in photos). I have not yet tried any of their other specialty dishes cause I never get tired of having the same thing here lol but I’m sure it’s super delicious, you can’t go wrong! High quality and fresh ingredients for a very good reasonable price for the amount of portions you get. Make sure to get a side order of egg rolls and Thai tea with your meal, super good and rich in flavor. It’s a hidden secret gem that’s definitely worth making the drive and finding a parking spot. Cash only and carry out but they do have a cute patio in the front where you can enjoy your meal.

My go-to spot for Lao / Thai food in the L.B.C. I stopped in today & got soup because it was cold and rainy. Soooo good! I usually get the green papaya salad & / or pad see ewe but the soup hit the spot & was exactly what I needed. The owners are so kind. It really feels homey here. Down to earth service with delicious food & a comfy atmosphere. I came all the from the San Gabriel Valley because I knew it would not disappoint. The vibe here is so good & genuine. Sending blessings to these owners. The food & service brought sunshine to a gloomy day.

First timer tonight. We got chicken pad see ew and chicken pad thai, and a mango sticky rice. The staff was warm and friendly, and made suggestions for what items to try next. Everything was super delicious, with big portion sizes for the noodle dishes. The pad see ew was just the right amount of funky, and very savory and good. The noodles were beautifully chewy! The pad thai was also great; everything tasted fresh and authentic. The mango sticky rice had a rich deep flavor that I've never tasted in that dish before! We'll definitely be back again for more!

Food was delicious. Chef/ cashier was super nice, gave each of my kids and orange before we even ordered. Atmosphere is a 4 bc it is exactly what you expect from a mom and pop take home spot. Don't expect fine dining when you are at an Asian take out place! Food came out pretty quick and everything was packaged well. We got pad see ew, pad kee mow, and yellow curry. Every dish was under $15. Good portions, yellow curry had enough to save for a 2nd meal. Pad see ew was shared between 2 kids and parents got a few bites in, so that tells you about the portion size.

I’ve been to this place a few times — the staff is always very positive and the food is excellent. The curry is absolutely delicious! There’s an elderly woman in the kitchen, and while she’s cooking it feels like your grandmother is making it for you — and it really does taste that amazing! It’s not exactly a restaurant, more of a take-out spot, but there are stone benches and tables in the courtyard where you can sit and eat. I really like it here and definitely recommend it to everyone!

I’ve had thai food from 3 other places this year & they don’t come close to Tasty Food To Go! So flavorful & reasonably priced for the portions you get. It’s challenging to pick a dish because everything is so yuuuum!!! Tofu Pad Thai (chose very spicy) is the best I’ve ever had: perfect taste & texture, just added some lime once I got home. My mum’s coconut soup tasted wonderful, the way the lemongrass & other flavors complement each other is such a joy!

I tried their fried rice and it was absolutely delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked, packed with fresh vegetables, and had the right balance of flavor and spice. The crispy topping and garnish made it look as good as it tasted. The portion was generous, and you can tell they really care about quality and presentation. If you’re looking for tasty fried rice or authentic Asian food, this place is definitely worth a visit.
